We hope you're as excited as us about this Saturday! Here're some things to take note of -
1. Reporting time: 8:30 am at the registration booth outside the college hall – do remember to pay your registration fees if you haven't!
2. You can only register when ALL of your team members have arrived.
3. Please kindly print out the attached indemnity forms, sign them and bring them along! Unfortunately, if you're under 21, you'll need your parent/guardian to sign the form for you. It's a little troublesome, but it's one of those things that's necessary, so we seek your corporation on this!
4. Also, it might be useful if your team coordinates its wardrobe on that day – choose a bright, striking top for easy recognition of your team mates on court! Of course, we understand that not everyone has neon green or polka dotted shirts, and we've got that covered by providing bibs.
5. If you're driving, parking is allocated on a first-come-first-park basis, so you might want to be early!
6. Some of you have been asking for fixtures, you'll find them attached, except for Table Tennis [your Sports I/C will brief you on Saturday] and Frisbee [ditto].
7. Should it be raining on Saturday morning, please do continue make your way down to Hwa Chong and await further instructions!

• Frequently Asked Questions •
We've received some extremely disconcerting questions about this ostensibly un- disconcerting event, and we'd like to share them with you, so we don't have to be needlessly disconcerted anymore. Ergo, some of these questions were taken from the disconcertingly messy tagboard, presented here, in full disconcerting formality, in a disconcertingly un-arranged fashion. | |||||||||||||||
Can students studying in HC now join the event? Are the high school's students excluded? This event is called Past Versus Present because we intend for current students ("present") to compete against alumni ("past"). So yes, students in HC now are strongly encouraged to participate. High school students will not be left out. They will take part in the "present" category. |
|||||||||||||||
Where did all the Chapteh go? It's a school sport man! We will try to make Chapteh a fringe activity. Supporters and participants who're not on the field may play. It's not a formal game, so no prizes will be given though, or we'd bankrupt ourselves. |
|||||||||||||||
So the games will be held in the morning? Yup. And it ends at 5pm. |
|||||||||||||||
How do I register my team? Click on the Register Now link and follow the instructions. |
|||||||||||||||
Can ex-Chinese High students join too? Yes they can. Half the team must be made up of ex-Hc or ex-TCHS students. As long as you are from the faHmily, you're welcome! The entire team can be made up of current students ("present"), or almuni ("past"), or a combination of both. |
|||||||||||||||
What of the prices for teams? Understandably, although we have some creatively cruel people on the team, none of us would dare charge, say, $60 per person. It's...the smell. No, all charges for team sports are on a per team basis. |
|||||||||||||||
When does registration end? Registration ends on the 3rd of September 2008, 3 days before the event begins. |
|||||||||||||||

ULTIMATE FRISBEE - RULES AND REGULATIONS
Format:
1.
Each
registered team is to consist of 10
players, 6 starting players and 4 reserve. A minimum of 6 players is required to
form the team. Only the
registered players registered at the start of the game may participate. A breach
in this rule will result in a nullification of any games played under the
circumstances. The opposing teams will be awarded a walkover win.
2.
The
participating teams will be split into 4 groups. The group stage would be held
in round robin fashion, with the top 2 winners of each group entering the round
of 8, which will subsequently be in knockout fashion till the
finals.
3.
The
team which wins the disc toss can decide whether they want to pull the disc
first or not.
4.
All
matches will be 15 minutes long, with a 1 minute soft-cap. i.e. at the 14 minute
mark of the game, if the leading team leads by more than 1 point, they
automatically win the game. If the score is tied or the leading team only leads
by one point, the game is allowed to carry on for one more point.
5.
Teams
are to report to the station manager 10 mins before each game. The Referee will
wait for 5 minutes for teams that are late. Failing which, the team is deemed to
lose the match, with the opposing team getting a walkover
win.
6.
In
the semi-finals and finals game, each half will last for 10 minutes with a
2
-minute
interval, and a 2 minute soft-cap at the end of the 2nd half. If at
the end of the last point the score is tied, a universal point will be played to
determine the winner
7.
Players
will be given notice of the soft cap.
8.
In
the 1st
round
of the round-robin competition, 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for
a draw and 0 points for a loss. The precedence between teams with the same
points garnered will be decided on the result between the 2 teams, failing
which, the number of points scored, failing which, a universal point between the
2 teams
Game
Rules:
a) Objective
1. The objective of the game is to pass the disc into the team’s
end-zone (at the opposite end of the field).
2. A point is awarded for each catch in the end-zone.
b) Players
1. Only 6 players shall play for each side at any one time.
2. One disc shall be used during gameplay.
c) Boundaries
1. For this tournament, the length of the field will be 50m
(including two 10m long end-zones). The width of the field will be 25m.
d) Game play
1. The game (between team A and team B) starts off with both teams
lining up along their respective end-zones.
2. A flip of a disc will decide which team makes the starting throw
(known as a “pull”).
3. The selected team (assuming team A wins the flip) will pull the
disc as far as they can.
4. Team B will pick up the disc where it has landed and begin their
offence. Alternatively, they may catch the disc before it lands. However, if a
player from team B drops the disc in an attempt to catch the disc before it
lands, a turnover will result.
5. If the disc lands out of bounds at the sidelines, the offensive
team may begin play from the point on the sidelines where the disc had gone out
of bounds. Alternatively, they may bring the disc into the playing field along
the line perpendicular to the sidelines (at the point on the sidelines where the
disc had gone out of bounds).
6. If the disc lands out of bounds behind the end-zone’s front
line, the offensive team may call a “brick” and bring the disc to the centre of
the field.
7. When a point has been scored, the two end-zones are switched.
The roles of the offensive and defensive teams are also switched. The losing
team will have to move to the other side of the field. The game is restarted by
the defensive team (the team which has just scored) pulling the disc.
8. During game play, the player has to establish a pivot foot while
in possession of the disc. This pivot foot cannot be moved before a throw, and
during a throw (i.e. a player may not jump as he is making a throw).
9. A receiving player may take a minimum number of steps to slow
down before establishing his pivot foot. A change in direction, or acceleration,
may not take place after the receiver has caught the disc.
10. A turnover (i.e. a change in disc possession to the opposing
team) occurs in 3 scenarios.
&nbs
p;
The opposing team intercepts a pass by catching it. They may begin
play straight away.
&nbs
p;
The pass is not completed. This occurs when the disc touches the
ground. It is immaterial which team player was last player in contact with the
disc. As such, a turnover may occur by the opposing team hitting the disc in
mid-flight, causing it to drop to the ground.
&nbs
p;
The disc is caught out of bounds. The person who has just caught
the disc may leave the disc on the ground.
&nbs
p;
11. Each player has 10 seconds to throw the disc. A player of the
opposing team must be within 3m of the player with the disc before commencing
the stall count. The defender must start the stall count. Counting is to be
called out as “stalling one, stalling 2, stalling 3… etc”. The player with the
disc is counted out when the 10th
count is reached. Counting must be audible to the player with the
disc.
12. The player with the disc is entitled to “disc space”. This
means that the opposing player may not come within one disc length of the player
with the disc.
13. The player with the disc may not pivot into another player. He
is also not allowed to throw the disc into the opposing player. Likewise, any
player is not allowed to obstruct the pivoting of the player with the disc.
14. When team A catches the disc in team B’s end-zone, they may
walk it forward to the front of the end-zone to begin play. Stall count can only
commence when the player with the disc reaches the front of the end-zone.
15. If two players from opposing teams happen to catch the disc at
the same time, disc possession will be awarded to the offensive team.
16. The first point of contact between the receiving player and the
ground determines whether the disc is out-of-bounds. Having contact with the
boundaries of the field results in the disc being considered out-of-bounds.
However, a disc caught on the line of the end-zone is considered out of the
end-zone.
17. Line calls (i.e. whether a disc has gone out of play/has been
caught in the end-zone) shall be made by the referee. A defensive player may
call “check feet” on an offensive player who has just received the disc. The
offensive player is then obliged to check whether he has caught the disc out of
bounds.
18. Any refereeing decision is final.
&nbs
p;
Substitutions
Substitutions may be made only after a point. Any number of
substitutions is allowed. In the event of an injury, the injured player is
allowed to leave the field. However, the team can initiate the substitution
only after a point is scored.
&nbs
p;
Fouls
Fouls are to be called by the players involved. Team mates may
advise their player to call a foul. When a foul is called, all players are to
cease movement. In the event that a player does not hear the foul call, and
moves away from his position, he will come to an agreement with his marker as to
where he was positioned at the time of the foul. Fouls may be contested or left
uncontested. To call a foul, a player must shout out “Foul!” When a foul is
called, the referee will decide whose possession the disc belongs to.
The following is a list of possible fouls:
(i) On the player with the disc
1. Strip: This occurs when the disc is knocked out of his hand by
his defender.
2. Violation of Disc Space
3. Obstruction of pivoting
4. Fast count: occurs when the player with disc judges that the
count rate is less than 1 count per second.
5. Double Team: occurs when there are more than 2 defensive players
within 3m of the offensive player. “Double team” may not be called if there is
another offensive player in the specified vicinity.
(ii) On the marker (of the player with the disc)
1. Offensive foul: occurs when the player with the disc pivots into
another player after a defending position has been established.
2. Travel: occurs when the player with the disc moves his pivot
foot before or during his throw. This includes jumping during the throw and
dragging of his feet along the ground during a throw.
(iii) On the other offensive players
1. Obstruction: occurs when a defensive player intentionally
obstructs an offensive player’s running path.
(iv) On the other defensive players
1. Pick: occurs when the offensive player runs in a manner that is
deemed dangerous to a defensive player. A pick may only be called when the
defensive player is within 5m of the offensive player. This typically occurs
when an offensive player runs through a group of other players.
2. Obstruction: occurs when the offensive player physically
prevents a defensive player from making a bid for the disc.
(v) On a receiver
1. Strip.
2. Force-out: an offensive player may call this if mid-air contact
with a defensive player causes him to land out of bounds, after he had caught
the disc in mid-air.
(vi) Other fouls
1. Any form of physical contact is prohibited. Where there is
physical contact, a foul may be called. (E.g. defender knocks into a receiver
such that he misses the catch).
2. Defensive players may not attempt to mislead the player with the
disc by calling to them for a pass.
3. Any other movement or play that is deemed to be dangerous can be
considered as fouls.
(vii) Stall-counting when a foul has been called.
1. Defensive Foul Uncontested : 0 (a defensive foul is a foul on
the defence)
2. Defensive Foul Contested : same or 5 if over 5
3. Offensive Foul : same
4. Travel or Pick: same or 5 if over 5
5. Strip : 0
6. Fast Count / Double Team
